Vintage 1940 California License Plate rare 5 digit Set 6E 633 DMV/YOM Cleared.. I tried showing the restoration process but some of the pictures I believe got lost or deleted which were just showing the plates after being primed. This set was stripped of original paint made repairs to all dings dents then given a rust bath after which were sanded and applied an etching primer, sanded and applied a filler primer sanded and applied 3 coats of base yellow sanded and applied by hand all digits and lettering using sign painters one shot gloss black enamel. Sanded and applied 3 coats of clear. This process took about a week and 1/2 in order for proper curing.
Plates are not perfect but only having minor dust nubs is still a show quality restoration in my opinion. This set also comes with the DMV application form which you need when registering your 1940 vehicle through the DMV / YOM program so your ahead of the game when you go to register your vehicle.
