Avoid restored plates like the plague. Good to go as-is for registering to your 1956 car (remove 1962 tag prior to DMV visit) in California -- or for 1962 cars as they still have their original 1962 issued DMV year tag on them.
Other 1957 to 1961 car owners just have to add a year tag to get approved in the DMV's Year of Manufacture program. Guaranteed DMV'clear' (not in their system and not assigned any car) as they were verified again so can be u sed for the Year of Manufacture Program for any 1956 to 1962 car. These have been off the road since 1962! They are obviously hiding something.
(You could also call the DMV's 800 number to verify; use the call back feature and then when they call back ask if "they are in the system or not" and they will tell you NO). And your 1956 to 1962 passenger vehicle should be wearing yellow plates anyway.... Not black or white ones! Have them in just a day or so!
